Car bomb kills four, including police district chief, in southern Afghanistan
KABUL (BNO NEWS) -- Four people were killed, including the chief of police for the Daman district of southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province, as a result of a car bomb attack on Wednesday, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said on Thursday.
ISAF said, quoting reports, that insurgent pulled alongside the police chief's vehicle while traveling toward Kandahar city and detonated the car bomb.
The blast killed the chief of police, three Afghan National Police members and an Afghan civilian. Four Afghan National Police members and four other civilians were wounded in the attack.
"This barbaric attack demonstrates the insurgents' desire to undermine the peace and stability of Afghanistan," said U.S. Air Force Col. James Dawkins, ISAF Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director. "The insurgents continue to offer nothing but pain and suffering to the Afghan people."
