IED strike kills four, wounds three civilians in north Afghanistan
KABUL (BNO NEWS) -- Four Afghan civilians were killed and three wounded on Monday in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Faryab province, NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said.
ISAF said the explosion happened when insurgents attacked Afghan Border Police members. The civilians struck an IED as they were trying to come to the aid of the border police.
According to ISAF records, more than 400 civilians have been killed and 860 wounded by insurgents' use of IEDs since the beginning of 2010.
Also on Monday, ISAF said seven Afghan civilians were wounded when a IED struck their convoy in the Behsud district, Nangahar province.
The convoy, which included President Karzai's Tribal Affairs Advisor and another advisor, was targeted by an IED which was placed on a rickshaw on the side of the road.
