Brazil exit poll shows Rousseff to be elected president
SAO PAULO (BNO NEWS) -- Preliminary results of a Brazilian exit poll show that Workers' Party (PT) politician Dilma Rousseff, a woman, will win the country's presidential election.
Voting was still underway in parts of Brazil when partial results of the Ibope exit poll were obtained by the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper, which said it obtained the information but did not name its source.
The result showed that Rousseff had received approximately 57 percent of the vote in Sunday's second round, which follows a first round on October 3rd that saw no candidate receive more than half of the vote. As there is only one other candidate in the second round, Folha reported that former Sao Paulo mayor José Serra would receive 43 percent of the vote.
If Rousseff is indeed elected president, she will be the country's first female president.
